I do not like thee, Doctor Fell,
The reason why, I cannot tell;
But this I know, and know full well,
I do not like thee, Doctor Fell.

Information About I Do Not Like Thee Doctor Fell

"I Do Not Like Thee Doctor Fell" is a poem which is thought to be written by Thomas Brown a student at Christ Church college, Oxford in the 1600s. It was first published in 1680 and listed as a nursery rhyme in Mother Goose collections from 1926.

Thomas Brown was threatened with expulsion by the Dean, Dr. John Fell, unless he completed a scholarly task. Thomas Brown did complete the task, but obviously agitated he penned the lines about the Dean, which have since been turned into a nursery rhyme.
