Daisy Daisy

Daisy, Daisy give me your answer do.
I'm half crazy all for the love of you.
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage.
But you'll look sweet,
Upon the seat,
Of a bicycle made for two.

Michael, Michael, here is your answer true.
I'm not crazy all for the love of you.
There won't be any marriage,
if you can't afford a carriage.
'Cause I'll be switched,
if I get hitched,
on a bicycle built for two!'.

Information About Daisy Daisy

The world's most popular song about a Daisy is certainly this one, who's actual title is "Daisy Bell" but is most often referred to as "Daisy, Daisy" or "A Bicycle Built for Two".

The song was written by an Englishman, Harry Dacre, while on a visit to America which began in 1891. Harry had brought his bicycle on the ship from England, and was frustrated that he had to pay a tax (called "duty") for it. When a friend joked that it was good Harry hadn't brought "a bicycle built for two, or he would have had to pay double" Harry had the inspiration for a new song.

No American publishers were interested in the song, but an American singer named Katie Lawrence loved it. So on her tour of Britain she first made the song popular in London music halls. Of course, it wasn't long before the song came back to America and became a hit there as well. Daisyfield.com has even more information about this song's history.

An interesting bit of trivia about this song: in 1961 the first computer that could sing was introduced, and the song that it sung was "Daisy Bell".

"Daisy Bell" has been featured in many films. For a list, visit this wikipedia article.

Daisy, Daisy
Here is my question true,
I'm half crazy o'er the love of you.
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage,
But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.

Harry Harry,
Here is your answer due,
I'm not crazy o'er the like of you.
I do want a stylish marriage, with horses and a carriage.
And I'll be darned if I'll be jammed on a bicycle built for two!
